One of the impressive additions to the home featured on Grand Designs is the use of a ‘vanishing’ wall which allows the sun to seep right from one side of the house to the other.

This allows easy access to the front and back gardens from both sides of the house and allows a beautiful living room to take center stage within the property.

Not traditional yet far from modern, contemporary interior design can feel like the best of all words. Audrey Scheck of Audrey Scheck Design tells me, “While modern design refers to a specific time period, contemporary design is a more loose term designing both current and future design trends. Contemporary design evolves as interior design trends come and go.”

Current contemporary spaces have an easy, warm feel to them. Far from formulaic, they can be eclectic or even fun. Whether you’re currently designing a contemporary space or just refreshing an old one, here are nine contemporary design tips shared by expert interior designers.

Choose Curved Lines

Scheck tells me curved lines can truly enhance a contemporary space. “From rounded corners on furniture to arched mirrors and doorways, curves bring so much dimension to a space. Incorporating curves helps to

This new-build home, completed in February 2022, looks as though it has stood here forever. Comfortable in its skin, the seven-bedroom home certainly makes a lasting impression. The interiors are exquisitely curated to match the home’s elegant architecture and together they put this house among the world’s best homes.

Vancouver-based Interior designer Kelly Deck worked with Formwerks Architectural from early on in the build. The owners’ brief? ‘It started with the simple description – minimally Parisian,’ says Deck. ‘They wanted the blend of old and new that our firm thrives on creating. In the end, the project evolved to be more traditional than minimal and the home itself is a very inviting and cozy place to spend time.’

The house is located on a hillside in the long-established neighborhood of Altamont, West Vancouver, Canada. This lush neighborhood sits at the base of the Cypress Mountain, a short walk to

How I create living rooms that showcase your unique style |

The living room is arguably the most important room in the house. It is where we spend most of our time with family and friends. It is public-facing and often receives the lion’s share of the soft furnishing and decoration budget.

I recommend taking an artistic approach when designing living rooms. It’s a fun and exciting way to express yourself and showcase your unique style. The objective is to immerse yourself in a space that you love surrounded by objects that are meaningful. I can think of nothing better than to be enveloped by what you love. It is an equal privilege to be invited to share in someone else’s living space when it reflects who they are.

Here’s how you can get started on your very home personal living space.

1. Choose a color scheme that you like

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek was ranked the fifth largest IC designer by revenue in the third quarter by market research firm TrendForce.

MediaTek saw its quarter-on-quarter revenue decline 11.6% to NT$152 billion (US$4.68 billion), according to TrendForce. MediaTek was hampered by weak sales numbers for the Chinese smartphone brand and clients who saw inventory corrections.

MediaTek experienced a decline in revenue from mobile solutions, smart edge platforms and power ICs in the third quarter. TrendForce notes that going forward, inventory reduction will remain MediaTek’s top priority.

Fellow Taiwanese IC designer Realtek, which ranked seventh in Q3, saw revenue decline 5.5% from the previous quarter to US$979 million. Realtek saw networking and automotive application sales remain steady in Q3, but as overall demand for consumer electronics waned, chips for computers, which account for 32% of its product mix, negatively impacted overall

Japanese designer Keiji Ashizawa and Danish studio Norm Architects have unveiled their design for the Bellustar Tokyo hotel, which aims to evoke a sense of nature in the middle of Tokyo’s urban Shinjuku district.

The two studios worked together to design interiors for five penthouse suites as well as hospitality spaces for the top floors of the Bellustar Tokyo, 200 meters above the ground in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho tower.

Norm Architects and Keiji Ashizawa Design had to take the city views from the building into account when designing the hotel rooms, which are spread over three levels from the 45th to the 47th floor.

“I would say that it is the tallest hotel I have worked on,” Ashizawa told Dezeen, describing it as “a quiet hotel in the sky of Shinjuku”.

While many employers are grappling with the post-pandemic Return To Work conundrum, Bobby Berk, the interior design expert on Netflix’s Queer Eyes, has created an innovative solution. The designer’s work from home concept satisfies his growing team’s need for creativity, collaboration, and comfort. Berk purchased a 1970s Spanish-style home in the Hollywood Knolls neighborhood (conveniently located half a mile from his own home), renovated it, and turned it into his eponymous design firm’s new HQ.

“I wanted to find a space where I could really showcase our designs and products in a residential interior setting,” Berk tells AD of his new digs, which opened five months ago. “The front of this house is completely set up as if it’s an actual home. It has a dining room, the kitchen, andliving room. There’s a little library office that we use if somebody needs to take a Zoom and they don’t
