The iconic “Brady Bunch” home where Mike, Carol, Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby and Cindy Brady cemented their status as a beloved American ’70s sitcom family is up for sale.

“The possibilities are endless” for a lucky homebuyer — who will be able to ascend from the famous staircase, hang out in the groovy attic, cook on bright orange Formica kitchen counters and sleep in pink twin beds, according to the listing. Curated furnishings and accessories are also included in the sale.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom Los Angeles suburbs home was listed for $5.5 million by HGTV, which bought the property in 2018. In 2019, the network launched its series, “A Very Brady Renovation,” to show the home’s transformation.

“As part of the massive renovation, HGTV invested $1.9 million and added 2,000 square feet to the property’s original footprint, including a full second story,” a statement from HGTV said.

HGTV is selling the “Brady Bunch” house in Studio City for $5.5. million, several years after its televised renovation.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale will “help provide up to 250,000 meals for Turn Up! Fight Hunger, an initiative that aims to help kids live with hunger in the US through No Kid Hungry,” the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned channel said this week in a statement. The initiative works with programs to prepare meals for children.

Originally built in 1959 with Late Modernist architecture, the house was used for exterior shots throughout the show’s five-season run from 1969 to 1974, followed by decades of syndication, cementing the mixed family of eight in pop culture. The building would become what is known as the second-most photographed home in America, behind the White House.

However, the inside of the house looked nothing like the rooms seen on the show. That’s because

Make Your Own Whirlig Toy

What is a Whirligig Toy?

The word whirligig derives from two Middle English words: whirlen (to whirl) and gigg (top), or literally “to whirl a top”. So the gist of the whirligig toy then is basically to use a scientific force (in our case we create it) to get the thing whirling and then we seek to keep it going.

That’s all pretty fancy to say a disc on a string. This simple pleasure of both making and playing with whirligigs provided hours of entertainment for the children of early America and still does today.

Whirligigs are documented as early as the 1400’s in Europe but there is also evidence of whirligigs being here in America some say as early as 500 BC! (For you scientific types, it refers to the Fourche Maline Culture) There is evidence that the whirligig was used in the ceremony to

If you are gathering information for your upcoming home renovation project, you may have learned that you should sign a written contract with your renovation professional. A contract helps to clarify roles, responsibilities and expectations and protects both you and the renovator. But did you know there are different types of renovation contracts? Depending on the nature, duration and potential cost of a project, a renovator may propose one of three common types of contracts—the traditional lump sum contract, the design-build contract or the construction management contract.

With a traditional lump sum contract, the home owner first works with a designer to develop what the renovation will look like. When the design is complete, the home owner should obtain three quotes from

With warmer weather on the horizon, residential construction and renovation projects will increase, and many projects will need structural support. I’ve been using helical piles for years, and they are a great alternative to concrete footings for many projects. If the project meets the proper specifications and certified engineering approval, helical piles can save money and time, which benefits both the contractor and the home owner.

When Ree Drummond isn’t in the kitchen or overseeing her Merc store downtown, she can be found out on the property walking the dogs or pitching in to help with the work on the ranch. It’s no wonder that she’s decided to create a beautiful oasis at home, where she manages her different business ventures as well as creates new recipes to be included in her successful cookbooks and TV show.

As for her ongoing home renovation project, Drummond’s caption on the image of the new tiled flooring (seen above in a sample from Casa Castillo) read, “The dogs will get mud all over this but you only live once,” accompanied by a crying , laughing emojis. In fact, you can see one of Drummond’s dogs from a recent Reel, relaxing on another intricately patterned tile floor — this one outside the home.

Revealing Tehran’s Corruption: Khamenei’s House Renovation at the Expense of Iranians

khamenei meeting foreign affairs ministry (1)

While Iranians can hardly make ends meet, a leaked letter shows how the ruling theocracy uses the national wealth to renovate and expand the house of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in Mashhad.

The documents, obtained by the dissident group “Ghiyam ta Sarnegouni” during its infiltration of the regime’s presidential servers and sites, also indicate how vast amounts of money are squandered on the regime’s malign activities under the banner of supporting “knowledge-based companies.”

While the regime propagates a facade of modesty and austereness, the reality tells a different story. Document N. 1 provides damning evidence of the Islamic Revolution Cultural Research Institute shamelessly demanding exorbitant funds for the lavish renovation of Khamenei’s opulent residence in Mashhad. This blatant display of excess and indulgence is an affront to the Iranian people, who suffer under the regime’s repressive rule and dire economic conditions.

Adding insult to injury, Document N. 2 reveals

Ever wanted to pack your bags, move to a remote island, and dive head-first into a home renovation project? Ireland’s making your dream a reality—well, sort of.

The Irish government recently revealed its Our Living Lands pledge, a 10-year national policy to revitalize the islands off their western coast. Per the initiative, Ireland will give individuals €84,000 (approximately $92,000) to refurbish vacant or run-down homes on 30 of the country’s islands. The goal, according to the Irish government is to strengthen the islands’ communities and increase their population.

For many, this seems like a great opportunity to spend time in Ireland—which, don’t get us wrong, it is. However, in this corner of the internet, we’re seeing it as an opportunity to live out our dreams as professional home renovators. (Do you hear that HGTV? We’re ready for our closeup!)

Otherwise titles Colonial Clothing 101.

What DID people wear in the 1700’s? Do we even know? The answer is YES! We actually know quite a lot about what our forefolk (forefathers and foremothers) were wearing.

Colonial clothing is interesting. It is fashionable and functional. What’s interesting is that different social status is displayed not in different fashion choices but the quality of the fabric. It gets even more interesting because you might think silk would be an indication of wealth but a fine printed cotton might be worth more.

House Renovation

Home improvement is practically an American pastime, with millions of homeowners completing projects each year. while renovations will generally improve your quality of life, many don’t actually provide a financial return.

“In most cases, only home projects that add additional functionality or livable square footage add to the home’s value,” says David Steckel, home expert at home services marketplace Thumbtack.

The exceptions are kitchen and bathroom upgrades, as well as extensive enhancements to the exterior such as a new roof, windows or landscaping because these projects can elevate the home’s feel.

To identify projects that can increase your property value when you sell—or at least save you money while you live there—we spoke to home improvement experts and shifted through return-on-investment data. Below, a look at five popular home improvements and tips to make sure they pay off.
