And what to do to make small Powder chamber

Believe it or not, powder room design mistakes can go a long way. After all, after the entrance, living room, and kitchen, it was the only area guests would use, and one where the family would be in and out day and night.

Add to that its diminutive size, and you can see how the best powder room ideas can quickly destroy an entire space.

“Nine times out of 10 it’s a shoebox somewhere.” Exalted cupboard,’ said Ca’ Pietra (opens in new tab)Head of Creative, Grazzie Wilson. Below, Grazzie and the H&G team list the most common mistakes to avoid when redesigning your powder room.

Powder chamber design error

There’s no denying that a small powder room is more prone to design mistakes, but sometimes having a larger space can also be a problem. Here’s what to avoid, and what to do, according to experts.

“The best compliment we get is that the house looks like Megan Draper’s apartment in Mad Men”

Ever since Cass Goulding was a child, she’s been drawn to vintage kitsch, watching old episodes of Bewitched and scouring thrift stores for 1950s rockabilly-style dresses. Her husband, Chris Bowman, prefers clean lines, Scandinavian minimalism and the modernist designs of Louis Kahn, Marcel Breuer and Pierre Koenig. “I’m mid-century, he’s modern, so together we’re mid-mod,” she says.

In 2017, Goulding, now a social media manager, and Bowman, a pilot, were living in a cookie-cutter three-bedroom Oshawa house furnished in typical millennial fashion, with a nightstand doing double duty as a TV table. They fantasized about taking their atomic-age aesthetic obsession to the next level and buying a mid-century home. They started their hunt the next

10 Home Decor Faux Fittings That Date Your Interiors, According to Designers

“Whenever I see a home that has gray-tone wood flooring, gray cabinets, gray walls, tiles, and countertops, I think not only does the space look dull but also dated,” says Becky Wright of the Sorry Girls, YouTube creators in Toronto, focusing on DIY, sustainability, and interior design. White hues and muted, gray interiors were the providence of shabby-chic and cottage-style interiors of the ’80s and ’90s. Even Joanna Gaines, who raised the farmhouse style on Fixer Uppers, breaks up the grays with saturated greens and bold blues.

If you’re not sure how to proceed or if you should take the plunge with a bold color, Wright recommends opting for white, which is easier to paint over if you later change your mind or want to personalize with any color furniture. You can also try your hand at peel-and-stick wallpaper with an interesting pattern. According to a recent home decor trends

A Passive-House Design in Spain Without a Drop of Paint

Architects Paloma Hernaiz and Jaime Oliver, cofounders and directors of OHLab, believe that a building is only as attractive as it is sustainable. “If you know it’s polluting the environment, it probably won’t appeal to you,” Oliver argued. Climate change has changed our perspective. Glass curtain walls, for example, have lost some of their allure. “Today, if you see a building that’s entirely glazed, it’s not as nice aesthetically because you should know it doesn’t work well,” he says. By that measure alone, Paseo Mallorca 15, an apartment building the firm designed in Palma, on the Spanish island of Mallorca, is a stunner: Covered in pine shutters, it relies on passive heating and cooling techniques and consumes little energy.

Hernaiz and Oliver, who are married, met in New York while earning their masters’ degrees at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and later worked together at OMA

A ‘line in the sand’: The battle for the Hamptons home raises the question of what to save

For four decades “Bliss House” has stood, mostly hidden between the road and beach, on pristine waterfront property in Southampton Village as renowned architect Norman Jaffe’s first local design.

Homeowner Orest Bliss agreed in 1978, as a condition of the city granting development approval, to an agreement requiring landscaping to largely protect the angular residence from view.

At the time, several Southampton officials considered Jaffe’s modernist design “radical”, with one member of the village planning council arguing that the gabled roof could stab seagulls.

Fast forward to 2023 and the house’s architectural legacy is in the midst of a legal battle over whether it can be demolished as part of Bliss’ plan to sell the property at 88 Meadow Lane.

While once deemed too radical, Southampton officials have now tried to deem the controversial home too historic to demolish. The litigation has raised questions about what’s worth preserving in an

Following much trial and error, one tenacious The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player managed to build an impressive three-floor house in spite of some notable restrictions imposed on the game’s home construction mechanics. They swiftly took online to showcase their achievements, having done so just as some fans began speculating that a Tears of the Kingdom DLC announcement is imminent.

Whether it’s because the fandom called for Tears of the Kingdom to make better use of Link’s house or another reason, the new Zelda game completely revamped the home-building mechanics from Breath of the Wild. The end result of that effort is a much more powerful system that allows players to build and customize their dream Hyrule home with some help from a few familiar faces.

“Bespoke” Means Ultra-Custom Design Drury Design

Posted on 23/06/2023 By Kartika

The English word “bespoke” is popular in the US. We think it’s GREAT and here’s why…

What does bespoke mean?

“Bespoke” means “ultra custom” in the British design language. Originally used in the context of clothing. Its use in the world of kitchen and bathroom design coincides with the growing notion of customers seeking spaces that are unique and personal. The word helps differentiate between something custom made and something truly custom made.

Custom made meaning there’s a thorough template and you get a made-to-order unit based on the dimensions, color, material, and style you have in mind.

bespoke is when you have a general idea – and maybe even a napkin sketch – of what you want, but it’s nowhere to be found…. it wasn’t until a designer and craftsman worked together to create it. Your bespoke creations are truly unique.

The living room is arguably the most important room in the house. It is where we spend most of our time with family and friends. It is public-facing and often receives the lion’s share of the soft furnishing and decoration budget.

I recommend taking an artistic approach when designing living rooms. It’s a fun and exciting way to express yourself and showcase your unique style. The objective is to immerse yourself in a space that you love surrounded by objects that are meaningful. I can think of nothing better than to be enveloped by what you love. It is an equal privilege to be invited to share in someone else’s living space when it reflects who they are.

Here’s how you can get started on your very home personal living space.

1. Choose a color scheme that you like
