I’m always looking for garden inspiration. Like most gardeners, I never sit back and say ‘This is finished’, the creation is fun!

You may remember at the end of last year, I had the visit of garden designer Philippe Dubreuil. I love his garden in the Perche, it is a true garden inspiration for me. He came to lunch and kindly took a moment to wander around my garden, analyzing what we had going on, and giving me suggestions for improvement.

Prime Ministers across the country are using their New Year’s messages to emphasize everything from housing and affordability to healthy lifestyles.

In his first New Year’s message as prime minister of BC, David Eby said he was honored to celebrate a successful 2022 “including a great economic recovery in our province as we emerge from the pandemic.” But he acknowledged challenges related to housing, health care and the cost of living.

Talking possible ‘Home Improvement’ reboots with ‘Tool Time’s’ Al Borland and Heidi

NOVI, MI – They starred on a fictional show within a huge hit sitcom which ran for 203 episodes from 1991 to 1999. We caught up with “Home Improvement” stars, Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning at Michigan’s biggest comic convention, Motor City Comic Con .

The stars who played Al Borland and Heidi are two of the more than two dozen celebrity guests meeting with fans for photos and autographs at the event taking place at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi through Sunday, May 21. Tickets to Motor City Comic Con can be purchased here.

Home Depot hits the brakes: Three-year robust sales run ends amid pull back on home improvements

Home Depot couldn’t keep its protracted robust sales streak going any longer. The home improvement chain reported a small quarter as consumer spending on home improvement projects – which was buoyed by the stay-at-home pandemic lifestyle – coming to a screeching halt.

The retailer posted disappointing sales for its first quarter and lowered its outlook for the year after customers slowed their spending. Home Depot (HD) said sales fell 4.5% at least a year at stores open during its latest quarter, and its income decreased 6.4% from the same stretch a year ago.

Total revenue for the quarter slipped 4.2% versus a year ago, to $37.3 billion. The retailer also cited falling lumber prices and weather-related challenges, including heavy rains in California during the period, to clink its sales.

Stettler home improvement program entering final stages of approvals

A new program which will allow Stettler residents to make home improvements and pay for the renovations over time on their taxes is another step closer to reality after the May 2 council meeting.

Following a public hearing during the council meeting, where no submissions were received or presented either for or against the proposed programme, the final two readings of the bylaw were read.

The program, overseen by Alberta Municipalities but administered by the municipality, will allow residents of the community to apply to have proposed renovation work done on homes, such as replacing furnaces, windows, or other high-cost repairs that could be made to make a home more energy efficient paid for upfront by municipal affairs, then have things repaid over 25 as part of the annual tax levy.
