Langley Township is considering renovating Aldergrove Community Station House, home of Langley Meals on Wheels.

During its meeting Monday, December 12, the council voted to submit a list of potential renovations to this year’s city budget process. The board must decide which items, if any, to get funding this year.

Councilor Barb Martens noted that Station House, formerly Aldergrove fire hall, remains the property of the Township, and is a heritage building, but is in need of upgrades and repairs.

For example, the second floor can be used for gatherings and gatherings, but can only be accessed by stairs.

Municipal staff will be looking at a number of possible changes to the building, including lifts, changes to parking, the creation of a new outdoor plaza and seating area on 272nd Street in front, as well as upgrades to the electrical, air conditioning and heating systems.

Partial home renovations gains popularity on rising materials prices

The demand for partial home renovation is on a rise as South Korean families opt for a more affordable approach to transforming houses amid rising raw material prices and labor costs.

According to industry sources on Monday, demand for partial remodeling projects has gone up for their convenience and lower cost.

Partial renovation allows families to choose the areas they want to transform without the need to move out. The simpler home face-lift costs less than renovating the whole space in the house, with a shorter period, which takes one to 3 days.

Korea’s largest furniture and home furnishing company Hanssem Co. said that sales from sliding door construction contracts rose 10 percent between April and May from a year ago.

A sliding door at the entrance, a popular solution to partial home remodeling, costs an average of 1 million won ($764) for installation. Surveys

What did people wear in the 1700’s?

Otherwise titles Colonial Clothing 101.

What DID people wear in the 1700’s? Do we even know? The answer is YES! We actually know quite a lot about what our forefolk (forefathers and foremothers) were wearing.

Colonial clothing is interesting. It is fashionable and functional. What’s interesting is that different social status is displayed not in different fashion choices but the quality of the fabric. It gets even more interesting because you might think silk would be an indication of wealth but a fine printed cotton might be worth more.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Colonial clothing is fascinating but let’s do a brief overview and then get to the video!

Construction, home renovation in Hungary? Now is the time!

The demand for construction materials has plummeted, with sales dropping by a third in both value and volume in May. The decline is worsening month by month, indicating a worrisome trend. Renovations are on the decline, and several new construction projects are being initiated. With the falling prices on the construction market, there has never been a better time to start building our new home or renovating the current one.

In the first five months, building materials traders experienced a sharp decline in turnover. The market declined by 24 percent compared to the previous year. Distributors reported a 32 percent decrease in sales and a 35 percent decrease in turnover in May. This growing backlog compared to the previous year is cause for alarm. However, there are no signs yet of the trend reversing, writes Világgazdaság.

Home Renovating While Black: The Very Real Costs That Nobody Tells You About

About six weeks after she moved into her Dutch Colonial in Beekman, New York, Alyse Archer-Coité’s excitement shifted to hesitation. Her anxiety peaked when she started reaching out to contractors to start home renovating discussions. “I felt like they would come to the house with an expectation, and then I would open the door,” she recalls. Archer-Coité didn’t want word to get out that the ivy-covered brick home on the hill of a predominantly white and middle class neighborhood was owned and occupied by a single Black woman—she would often wait for cars to pass before getting the mail. “I had a fear that I was going to end up with a burning cross in my yard.”

Fifty-five years after passing the 1968 Fair Housing Act—a law preventing discriminatory practices around renting, buying, selling, or financing a home in the face of redlining—racism continues to pervade the house buying experience.

Three new living options are going to be available for Canadore College students in North Bay starting this fall.

It’s an effort by the college to try and curb the housing shortage in the region, that students are being affected by.

There are townhomes that sit on college property that haven’t been occupied for 10 or more years and are currently under renovation.

‘The Greens’ will once again start house students in September.

“They were built very, very well with cement blocks and firm beams. With the support of local architects and contractors we determined that a renovation would be viable to make 19 new family houses,” said Vice President Shawn Chorney Canadore.

“Designed for our students and their families with a main suite that accommodates a larger suite, room for a larger bed, room for storage, room for multiple children who have their own private rooms.”
