When a client asks for a guest house that doubles as a yoga studio, and you don’t just deliver – but build something so seamless it looks like it was always there – well, that’s a reward in itself.

But for the dreamy, yogi-approved outdoor space it created in West Vancouver, the CCI-Fairmile Group has won plenty of acclaim, too. Most recently: a Georgie Award for Best New Small-Scale Home up to 1,000 Square Feet, along with two Homebuilders’ Association of Vancouver award nominations.

It took a whole lot of care and planning to match every angle, peak, column and soffit of the new structure seamlessly with the original – a 2015-built, 6,000-square-foot modern-traditional family home – says CCI-Fairmile Group

Renovation

On a nearly unbearably hot Thursday afternoon, volunteers and employees from the State College Food Bank strapped on their hard hats and picked up their shovels for a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the food bank’s new location.

The food bank announced in June 2022 it would be moving to 169 Gerald St. — the former home of Apple Hill Antiques — but will continue operations at its 1321 S. Atherton St. location until renovations are complete.

Construction on the $4.3 million project, which includes gutting the interior as well as major renovations to the parking lot, will begin on Monday. The new location will not only provide double the space but also help consolidate services for families in need, executive director Allayn Beck said.

“We want to make sure that we’re able to serve all the individuals and families coming through our doors but also be our support system for all

Renovation

There’s no shortage of lamp shades at thrift stores and they’re usually very reasonably priced, which makes them the perfect DIY project! I have been swooning over pleated lamp shades for a while but they are pretty expensive! I’ll show you how to make your own for less money.

How to Make a DIY Pleated Lampshade Without Sewing

I found this little lamp base at a thrift store for $10 and couldn’t pass it up. It didn’t come with a lampshade so I bought this tapered lampshade online. For some reason when I bought it it was only $25 and now it’s double the price…suspicious! But you can check out thrift stores for cheaper ones.

DIY Savings Lampshade Makeover

SUPPLY FOR LIPI LAMP

There are several different ways to make a pleated lampshade and I followed some of the other tutorials first, using the whole fabric and folding it over. If your lampshade is in the shape of a drum then this method

Temple Square renovation update: 1st base isolator installed

Posted on 23/10/2025 By Kartika
Renovation

The first of 98 base isolators has been installed as part of the ongoing Salt Lake Temple renovations, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced this week.

Base isolators are mechanical devices that isolate the earth’s movement from the building above during a seismic event, according to the Church’s news release on ChurchofJesusChrist.org dated May 23. A single base isolator weighs 18,000 pounds but can carry a weight of 8 million pounds. Installing isolators will allow the temple to move horizontally up to five feet in any direction during an earthquake.

The first base isolator was placed May 3 on the new footing on the temple’s west side. The new footings surround the towers on the east and west ends of the temple, extending down 35 feet and away from the original structure.

The base isolator’s installation marks a major milestone for the renovation project that began in

How to Plan Raised Garden Beds

Spring is just around the corner and one of the things I’ve been wanting to add to our backyard this year is a raised garden bed. Or maybe some 😉 I’m still a newbie to the world of gardening so I wanted to make sure I did my research before jumping into building and planting them. If you want to do the same this year then I hope this post helps you start your garden bed journey with confidence!

The breadth of my gardening really started last year when we built a Grade Two Herbal Cultivator and I was instantly hooked. I love to get out on the deck and chop up herbs to use in our meals. So are the kids! They loved watching them grow and we even planted our first tomato! I know they will enjoy this larger bed as much as I do.

A couple with a $120k renovation budget turned an old resale flat into a cozy wabi sabi home, Lifestyle News

Posted on 25/09/2025 By Kartika
Renovation

Like many couples during the pandemic, Gwen (not her real name for privacy reasons) and her husband were looking for a place that was bigger than their previous home.

Because of this, they are looking for resale used HDBs where the floor area is usually larger than newly built ones.

Size requirements aside, it should be located closer to the west since that’s where the families of the two of them are.

The place also needs to be within walking distance of the train station, and close to a park or park link because they have a dog.

Also, one of the windows must be as high as the ceiling, or at least three-quarters. This is because they used to have a balcony in their first home, and it was their dog’s favorite hangout spot.

Their home buying journey ended with a resale of HDB which was completed in 1998

New Cajun Field renovation timeline after 2023 season | Cajun UL Ragin

Renovation

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has announced that the renovation of the Cajun Field at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium will not affect the upcoming fall football season.

In June 2021, UL and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center announced that the hospital purchased the naming rights to the stadium for $15 million, which will help fund the project. At the time, officials said they expected work to start “at some point after the 2022 football season”.

But on Monday, the athletics department assured fans planning to buy or renew 2023 season tickets that their seats would not be moved.

The demolition process is now expected to begin after the 2023 season, and the new projected timeline is “18 to 24 months”, indicating an anticipated completion and opening date in time for the 2025 season.

“It’s very time-consuming and very slow,” said UL athletic director Bryan Maggard. “We

How to Make a Shelf with a Wooden Gallery Rail

Renovation

We are currently refreshing the laundry room and I am slowly completing a project to update this space. We finished it almost 7 years ago and it is one of the most used rooms in our house (after the kitchen). But now that we have 3 kids and my style has evolved, it’s time for some changes! My latest project is to make a shelving with wooden gallery rails and I’m here to share all the details with you!

How to Make a Wooden Gallery Rail Shelf

When we first finished the laundry room, we put a shelf against the wall above the washer and dryer that was about 5 feet long. I don’t know why I decided on that length or why I didn’t extend it all the way to the wall. It was the start of my design journey and the laundry room was the first room I ever designed from top to bottom!

Fifty West Brewing Co. recently announced the highly anticipated reopening of Brewpub in Columbia Township, in the greater Cincinnati area. The full-service restaurant, now under the direction of renowned Cincinnati Chef Jackson Rouse, formerly of Bauer Farm Kitchen, promises to bring back the authentic dining experiences customers love.

After an eight year tenure, Fifty West Brewpub closed temporarily in 2020 due to financial and operational pressures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fifty West team then turned their focus across the street to their family-friendly concept, Burger Bar. Spacious outdoor beer gardens complete with walkup order windows and fast food service are proving to be a far superior path to weather the storm of the pandemic. While Burger Bar was met with great enthusiasm and success, many brewery enthusiasts have consistently voiced their desire for a return to the original restaurant and brewery.

“Fifty West was humbled to be founded from
