Text description provided by the architects. The object of the project was therefore twofold: on the one hand a major renovation of the existing building (the pools, the frame, all the walls, and the machinery), and on the other hand the construction of a new pool in extension to the Abbey.

The existing state and the necessary economy of resources to be implemented in contemporary architecture have imposed a posture that aims to preserve the maximum of the superstructure. This reasoned thinking about construction has allowed 3 main founding principles to emerge:

– A contemporary architecture that integrates the volumetric diversity of the existing building,

– A structural and insulation implementation makes it possible to restore coherence to

Renovation

On a nearly unbearably hot Thursday afternoon, volunteers and employees from the State College Food Bank strapped on their hard hats and picked up their shovels for a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the food bank’s new location.

The food bank announced in June 2022 it would be moving to 169 Gerald St. — the former home of Apple Hill Antiques — but will continue operations at its 1321 S. Atherton St. location until renovations are complete.

Construction on the $4.3 million project, which includes gutting the interior as well as major renovations to the parking lot, will begin on Monday. The new location will not only provide double the space but also help consolidate services for families in need, executive director Allayn Beck said.

“We want to make sure that we’re able to serve all the individuals and families coming through our doors but also be our support system for all

The city is being asked to contribute millions of dollars to help cover the cost escalation on the major renovation of the Glenbow Museum.

The museum has asked the city for another $18 million.

Work is already well underway on the renovation of the Glenbow Museum, which will see it revamped with an entirely new look and modern features inside and out.

The president and CEO Nicholas Bell says the project’s budget is increasing though due to the rising cost of construction materials. Originally pegged to cost about $120 million, it’s now estimated that the project will come in at about $130 million.

Renovation

The first of 98 base isolators has been installed as part of the ongoing Salt Lake Temple renovations, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced this week.

Base isolators are mechanical devices that isolate the earth’s movement from the building above during a seismic event, according to the Church’s news release on ChurchofJesusChrist.org dated May 23. A single base isolator weighs 18,000 pounds but can carry a weight of 8 million pounds. Installing isolators will allow the temple to move horizontally up to five feet in any direction during an earthquake.

The first base isolator was placed May 3 on the new footing on the temple’s west side. The new footings surround the towers on the east and west ends of the temple, extending down 35 feet and away from the original structure.

The base isolator’s installation marks a major milestone for the renovation project that began in

Estimated read time: 5-6 minutes

SANDY — At the Boyle family home in Sandy they have a motto, a phrase that guides Jeremy and Amelia and their six children.

“Amelia says if you have something good, share it,” neighbor Emilie Wright said. “That’s just the hallmark of her life, and so we have something good, and we want to share that with her.”

Over the last year, finding that good has been a challenge. Jeremy Boyle, 44, a marriage and family therapist, was diagnosed with a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition called multiple system atrophy, and his body is shutting down.

“It’s difficult for him to get up and down the stairs, to function like he used to, he’s really active and handy and he’s not able to do what is as well as he used to without a lot of pain,” said Wright.

Praying for guidance on how to

Fifty West Brewing Co. recently announced the highly anticipated reopening of Brewpub in Columbia Township, in the greater Cincinnati area. The full-service restaurant, now under the direction of renowned Cincinnati Chef Jackson Rouse, formerly of Bauer Farm Kitchen, promises to bring back the authentic dining experiences customers love.

After an eight year tenure, Fifty West Brewpub closed temporarily in 2020 due to financial and operational pressures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fifty West team then turned their focus across the street to their family-friendly concept, Burger Bar. Spacious outdoor beer gardens complete with walkup order windows and fast food service are proving to be a far superior path to weather the storm of the pandemic. While Burger Bar was met with great enthusiasm and success, many brewery enthusiasts have consistently voiced their desire for a return to the original restaurant and brewery.

“Fifty West was humbled to be founded from

How a school renovation in Belgium turned into a top class co-built community | Interiors

Renovation

On her first visit, 15 years ago, to the abandoned school complex that was to become her family home, Veva van Sloun was in for a surprise. Located in a busy area of Ghent, the old school was shielded from the main street by bamboo planting. Beyond the white gate she discovered it had a hidden courtyard garden, not to mention its own chapel. The site was much bigger than she anticipated. “It was so dilapidated that when I leaned against the wall some of the bricks crumbled and fell off,” she recalls.

Undeterred, she decided to take on the renovation. The chapel had been extended to house the school kitchen and gymnasium. These elements were removed to restore the chapel as a separate entity, giving van Sloun, her husband, Jan, and their children more space. “We had to take off the roof and rebuild it brick by brick

Jacksonville Jaguars hired architectural firm HOK to serve as a design consultant for the proposed TIAA Bank Field renovation, team president Mark Lamping told VenuesNow last week.

“It’s not a project yet,” Lamping told VenuesNow. “We want to be in a place where we know what a renovated stadium looks like and how do you renovate while still trying to play an NFL game. We are in a good place. If we do go ahead, we will basically get a new stadium built on top of the existing structure.”

In October, Lamping notified the Florida Times-Union that Jaguar was in the early stages of designing renovations to the team’s stadium. According to VenuesNow, HOK won the job over seven competitors who all submitted initial concepts for the job.

The Jaguars have played at TIAA Bank Field since their first season in the NFL in 1995. In the nearly three decades

Change is on the horizon for Whidbey Island’s oldest library.

The Langley Library, which has been part of Village by the Sea for almost a century, will receive a much-anticipated update in the new year regarding the building’s accessibility and functionality.

The $2 million renovation project, which could start as early as February, will make better use of the library space downstairs and create meeting space for the public, among other things.

In 2021, the Sno-Isle Library received a $700,000 capital-boosting grant from the state for the project. In addition, the library system contributed $1.2 million and Friends of the Langley Library raised $30,000.

Since 2022, representatives from the Sno-Isle Library have met with members of the community, Langley City Council, the city’s Design Review Board, and the Historical Preservation Commission to gather input on proposed renovation plans.

Sno-Isle Library Deputy Director David Durante said nearly 50 people attended the
