Text description provided by the architects. The residence is in one of the central areas of Vadodara city. The site is surrounded by many adjacent urban dwellings. The design brief for the house had many memories attached from the client’s side. Now evolving over time, they wanted to experience contemporary modulations in the same space with minimum budget specifications. The house defines dialogue between existing structural grids and new different punctures infused for communication. The design shows a thoughtful approach to addressing challenges inside a built mass, creating opportunities for visually open spaces by adding colorful graphics. As part of climatic considerations, passive design strategies and planning principles have been incorporated.

OTTAWA –

More than four years after MPs moved out of Center Block on Parliament Hill for the decade-long renovation to the historic building, journalists got a behind-the-scenes look at the project’s progress Thursday.

The massive project is slated to run until 2031, costing between $4.5 and $5 billion, and is on track to be completed on time.

“This is the largest heritage rehabilitation project that’s ever taken place in Canada,” said Public Services and Procurement Canada assistant deputy minister Rob Wright on the tour.

“We have to balance restoring the heritage with universal accessibility, with sustainability, with meeting modern requirements of Parliament, and creating greater access for Canadians, and creating a more secure environment,” he added. “That’s a tall order”

Renovation

Whether you’re vicariously seeking an affordable starter property on House Hunters or learning how to renovate your primary bath with Erin and Ben Napier, HGTV proves that you don’t need a limitless bank account to make your biggest design dreams come true. So when we happen to see a renovation project that costs a pretty penny—like the $191,000 kitchen makeover on the latest episode of Christina on the Coast—we definitely take notice.

In the season five premiere, Christina Hall was asked by self-proclaimed fellow soccer mom Amy to spruce up her Newport Beach kitchen. The task was simple: Turn a crammed kitchen into an open, airy oasis that emphasizes indoor-outdoor living. Amy and her husband, Scott, initially set a $150,000 budget but—as with most renovations—things happened.

When replacing the kitchen’s tiles with hardwood floors, Hall’s contractor noticed the floor needed to be leveled—which cost an extra $1,800. Then the

Renovation

Much of Queen’s University’s administration is now officially housed at 355 King Street West, with renovations and most relocations to the site now complete. The consolidation of administrative units in the new building will allow the university to free up and renovate more space in the central campus for academic and research-focused purposes.

The university renovated and is occupying three wings of the former St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital building (areas previously known as the South, East and Sister’s wings). These wings are now home to Financial Services, Investment Services, Internal Audit, Campus Security and Emergency Services, Environmental Health and Safety, Insurance and Risk Management, Strategic Procurement Services, Postal Services, Facilities, and the Office of the Vice-Principal Research.

The university bought the site from Providence Care in 2017, and construction started in 2021. Environmental sustainability was a key consideration in the work that was done. The project adapted the

The existing state and the necessary economy of resources to be implemented in contemporary architecture have imposed a posture that aims to preserve the maximum of the superstructure. This reasoned thinking about construction has allowed 3 main founding principles to emerge:

– A contemporary architecture that integrates the volumetric diversity of the existing building,

– A structural and insulation implementation makes it possible to restore coherence to

On a nearly unbearably hot Thursday afternoon, volunteers and employees from the State College Food Bank strapped on their hard hats and picked up their shovels for a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the food bank’s new location.

The food bank announced in June 2022 it would be moving to 169 Gerald St. — the former home of Apple Hill Antiques — but will continue operations at its 1321 S. Atherton St. location until renovations are complete.

Construction on the $4.3 million project, which includes gutting the interior as well as major renovations to the parking lot, will begin on Monday. The new location will not only provide double the space but also help consolidate services for families in need, executive director Allayn Beck said.

“We want to make sure that we’re able to serve all the individuals and families coming through our doors but also be our support system for all

Temple Square renovation update: 1st base isolator installed

Posted on 29/05/2023 By Kartika
Renovation

The first of 98 base isolators has been installed as part of the ongoing Salt Lake Temple renovations, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced this week.

Base isolators are mechanical devices that isolate the earth’s movement from the building above during a seismic event, according to the Church’s news release on ChurchofJesusChrist.org dated May 23. A single base isolator weighs 18,000 pounds but can carry a weight of 8 million pounds. Installing isolators will allow the temple to move horizontally up to five feet in any direction during an earthquake.

The first base isolator was placed May 3 on the new footing on the temple’s west side. The new footings surround the towers on the east and west ends of the temple, extending down 35 feet and away from the original structure.

The base isolator’s installation marks a major milestone for the renovation project that began in

Renovation

Less than a week before its long-awaited reopening, contractors and staff at the Coral Gables Branch Library were busy refinishing the grand entrance double doors and transferring books from small rolling carts to dust-free bookcases.

Miami-Dade Public Library System Director Ray Baker said the renovation process was at “the end of the line,” with only final touches remaining after two years since the doors closed in April 2021.

The revamped library will reopen on Monday to the public.

The changes included replacing the roof, installing impact-resistant windows and updating the electrical and data wiring system. The library also added new furniture, carpeting, lighting, computers, ample seating options, an updated staff lounge and fully-renovated bathrooms.

Baker said 35% of the books and materials in the library’s collection are now brand new and “fresh out of the box.”

The price tag for the first major renovation to the 1968 building: $6.8
