Mumbai: Viacom18 Sports has announced its list of regional commentary panelists for the upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The world’s most prestigious soccer competition will be presented to audiences in India in five languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali on JioCinema, which is now available across Jio, Vi, Airtel and BSNL subscribers. From November 20 to December 18, all viewers will be able to watch the competition on pay TV channels Sports18, 1 SD and HD.

Dempo SC CEO and former coach Pradhyum Reddy and Brazilian footballer Jose Ramirez Barreto will form a panel of English experts. Indian footballer Robin Singh, current India women’s national team goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan, Kerala Blasters FC assistant coach Ishfaq Ahmed and former player Karan Sawhney will form the Hindi language panel.

Looted Monastery Manuscripts Rediscovered During Office Renovation

In 2008, Swann Auction Galleries in Manhattan sold three Greek-language manuscripts from the 16th and 17th centuries to an antiquities dealer who returned them two years later after concluding they might have been looted.

The dealer was reimbursed but the auction house, its officials said, was unable to reach the person who had consigned the items. So they sat on a shelf for more than a decade, all but lost in the shuffle of daily operations.

Three months ago, though, the manuscripts were resurfaced when Swann’s chief financial officer went through his office before a renovation. There on a shelf in a long-forgotten plastic bag were the manuscripts, which are believed to have been stolen from a Greek monastery in the midst of World War I.

Renovations to historic PEI legislation taking longer than expected

CHARLOTTETOWN — Parks Canada says renovations and repairs to Prince Edward Island’s legislature will take longer than expected.

The building was supposed to reopen some time this year after eight years of renovations and repairs, but the federal agency now says that won’t happen.

The conservation project, which started in 2015, has cost the federal government $91.8 million so far, and the bills are still coming in.

Parks Canada has issued a statement saying the bids it received for the third phase of the project were higher than expected, which prompted a new round of tenders.

The third phase calls for interior painting, heritage woodwork and new flooring, as well as a new elevator and upgrades for plumbing, electrical, ventilation and fire and safety systems.
