finding my garden inspiration – MY FRENCH COUNTRY HOME

Posted on 31/05/2023 By Kartika
Home Improvement

I’m always looking for garden inspiration. Like most gardeners, I never sit back and say ‘This is finished’, the creation is fun!

You may remember at the end of last year, I had the visit of garden designer Philippe Dubreuil. I love his garden in the Perche, it is a true garden inspiration for me. He came to lunch and kindly took a moment to wander around my garden, analyzing what we had going on, and giving me suggestions for improvement.

“You have to be more BOLD”, he said several times. I nodded vaguely, trying to envisage how this would play out… When you already think you’re doing your maximum, it’s hard to see what needs to be done to be BOLD. But like a tiny seed dropped into a flower pot, his words germinated in my head, and when he generously sent me a plan for the garden design,

Amid a cooling real estate market, sellers may need to go the extra mile to get their homes sold. This might mean taking on renovation projects before putting their home up for sale.

On the Flip Side: 5 Expensive Renovations Homeowners Always Regret
Learn More: Demand for Gold Is Up. Here’s Everything You Need To Know.

To find out the most in-demand home renovation projects right now, GOBankingRates spoke to real estate agents, who know firsthand what buyers are looking for. These are the renovations buyers want the most in 2023.

Kitchen Upgrades

Jaylon Brigham, an associate real estate broker with Compass in New York City, said that kitchen renovations remain a top priority for buyers.

“With open layouts in today’s homes, a renovated kitchen has more value than a renovated bath as it’s part of the public space that’s visible at all times,” she

An Interior Design Expert Clarifies The One Spot You Shouldn’t Put A Laundry Room

Basements are also typically far from the main area, which can make it inconvenient to access the laundry room. You won’t be able to just pop in to check the progress, and laundry becomes more energy-consuming than it needs to be when you have to carry full laundry baskets up and down the house. This inconvenience especially poses problems for people with mobility issues — older family members in the household who want to do laundry may not be able to do it safely.

Space allocation is another thing to consider. Basements often serve as multi-purpose areas, such as storage, recreational spaces, or home offices. Using it as a laundry room may take up valuable space that could be better utilized for other purposes. Another problem you can face when you put your laundry room in the basement is if you ever need to take out or bring in a

The iconic “Brady Bunch” home where Mike, Carol, Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby and Cindy Brady cemented their status as a beloved American ’70s sitcom family is up for sale.

“The possibilities are endless” for a lucky homebuyer — who will be able to ascend from the famous staircase, hang out in the groovy attic, cook on bright orange Formica kitchen counters and sleep in pink twin beds, according to the listing. Curated furnishings and accessories are also included in the sale.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom Los Angeles suburbs home was listed for $5.5 million by HGTV, which bought the property in 2018. In 2019, the network launched its series, “A Very Brady Renovation,” to show the home’s transformation.

“As part of the massive renovation, HGTV invested $1.9 million and added 2,000 square feet to the property’s original footprint, including a full second story,” a statement from HGTV said.

Home Improvement

Spring is kickoff season for many kitchen remodels, bathroom updates and deck repairs, but recent economic turmoil may have homeowners questioning their home improvement plans.

Spending on home renovations is expected to slow this year because of factors such as declining home sales and values, rising interest rates, continuing inflation and rumblings of a coming recession, says Abbe Will, senior research associate with Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.

As economic growth slows down, planning and prioritizing will be key to remodeling confidently. Here are five tips to help you remodel in an uncertain economy.

Even when the economy is doing well, it’s ideal to have an emergency fund before starting a remodel, says Eric Maldonado, a certified financial planner based in San Luis Obispo, California.

“What you’re trying to avoid is starting with nothing saved, taking out debt to afford these things and not really providing yourself with

How to Turn Your Home Into a Sanctuary

When I started The Inspired Room in 2007, my “slogan” was Perfect Your Home for Authentic Living. Even though I don’t use that tagline now, it still fits with my home philosophy. While we’ve certainly embarked on some larger renovations over the years, I truly find the greatest joy in the smaller enhancements one can make to one’s surroundings. I believe it is refining a process that can make any home your home.

FILTER: improve (something) by making small changes, especially making (an idea, theory, or method) more refined and accurate.

When we understand how to enhance our environment and know how to make the right adjustments, the impact on a space will be significant in all the ways that really matter.

The first of 98 base isolators has been installed as part of the ongoing Salt Lake Temple renovations, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced this week.

Base isolators are mechanical devices that isolate the earth’s movement from the building above during a seismic event, according to the Church’s news release on ChurchofJesusChrist.org dated May 23. A single base isolator weighs 18,000 pounds but can carry a weight of 8 million pounds. Installing isolators will allow the temple to move horizontally up to five feet in any direction during an earthquake.

The first base isolator was placed May 3 on the new footing on the temple’s west side. The new footings surround the towers on the east and west ends of the temple, extending down 35 feet and away from the original structure.

The base isolator’s installation marks a major milestone for the renovation project that began in
