The demand for partial home renovation is on a rise as South Korean families opt for a more affordable approach to transforming houses amid rising raw material prices and labor costs.

According to industry sources on Monday, demand for partial remodeling projects has gone up for their convenience and lower cost.

Partial renovation allows families to choose the areas they want to transform without the need to move out. The simpler home face-lift costs less than renovating the whole space in the house, with a shorter period, which takes one to 3 days.

Korea’s largest furniture and home furnishing company Hanssem Co. said that sales from sliding door construction contracts rose 10 percent between April and May from a year ago.

A sliding door at the entrance, a popular solution to partial home remodeling, costs an average of 1 million won ($764) for installation. Surveys

White House pushes for renewal of electronic surveillance law provision | Biden administration

The White House is stepping up pressure on lawmakers to renew a section of electronic surveillance law which permits the government to conduct targeted surveillance of foreign persons located outside the US.

The provision, known as section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (Fisa), is set to expire at the end of the year. But its renewal is facing pushback from privacy advocates and lawmakers, some citing examples in which law enforcement search requests were misused to conduct illegal surveillance on US citizens.

On Monday, Joe Biden’s administration circulated examples showing the US had used electronic surveillance under section 702 to catch fentanyl smugglers as well as the ransomware hackers who temporarily shut down the Colonial Pipeline Company in a 2021 cyber-attack that led to gas shortages along the eastern seaboards.

The public campaign to build support for the provision comes as a poll released last week showing that

30 Times People Should Really Not Have Done Any Home Renovation Work Themselves

They say, practice makes perfect, and professionals know it to be true after spending years trying to master their craft. That’s why there’s usually a clear distinction between an end result provided by a professional—or at least with the help from one—and an amateur, be it making desserts or building houses.

When it comes to the latter, it’s worth remembering that architecture-related decisions require knowledge in different areas, from engineering to design, and beyond. That’s why hiring a professional is usually the sensible thing to do, as they typically have years of experience, not to mention the value of education they go through.

Be that as it may, not all people opt for professional help when building something, which often results in disasters, such as the ones shared on the ‘You Should Have Hired an Architect’ Facebook group. It is home to the best worst architectural ‘gems’, some of which

Three new living options are going to be available for Canadore College students in North Bay starting this fall.

It’s an effort by the college to try and curb the housing shortage in the region, that students are being affected by.

There are townhomes that sit on college property that haven’t been occupied for 10 or more years and are currently under renovation.

‘The Greens’ will once again start house students in September.

“They were built very, very well with cement blocks and firm beams. With the support of local architects and contractors we determined that a renovation would be viable to make 19 new family houses,” said Vice President Shawn Chorney Canadore.

“Designed for our students and their families with a main suite that accommodates a larger suite, room for a larger bed, room for storage, room for multiple children who have their own private rooms.”

The inside of Karen and Darryl Dagenais’s house looks as if it’s under construction. No drywall, electrical switches or lights. And only a couple of plugs to power the kitchen appliances.

The two said they had to rip out all the plaster and insulation last year because it had been badly damaged from rain water poured into the house through the tarps serving as a temporary roof.

“It was basically like Niagara Falls in our home,” Karen said, adding the roof had been removed during a renovation project to add two more levels to their back-split home in Windsor’s Forest Glade area.

The Dagenais' home has no electrical fixtures or switches. Just a couple of outlets for kitchen appliances.

Karen has been living in the house, the way it is, off and on for about a year. The conditions are uncomfortable, she said.

Langley Township is considering renovating Aldergrove Community Station House, home of Langley Meals on Wheels.

During its meeting Monday, December 12, the council voted to submit a list of potential renovations to this year’s city budget process. The board must decide which items, if any, to get funding this year.

Councilor Barb Martens noted that Station House, formerly Aldergrove fire hall, remains the property of the Township, and is a heritage building, but is in need of upgrades and repairs.

For example, the second floor can be used for gatherings and gatherings, but can only be accessed by stairs.

Municipal staff will be looking at a number of possible changes to the building, including lifts, changes to parking, the creation of a new outdoor plaza and seating area on 272nd Street in front, as well as upgrades to the electrical, air conditioning and heating systems.

The Martens motion suggests a
